Ahead of the Curve

This painting is part of my series inspired by a visit to Orkney, where the beaches are as endless as the daylight (in June at least).

They’re also ferociously windy and still quite bitterly cold even in early summer haha but there is something deeply magestic about Scottish shorelines that are this remote, unspoiled and shapely.

The weather moves the light and colour along at a fair pace, so although I filled several sketchbooks with drawings while I was there, I was happy to complete the Ahead of the Curve canvas back in my (warm) studio.
